Protect Your Elderly Love Ones with Our Ft. Lauderdale Senior Care Professionals
Trying to deal with a visit to a hospital or doctor’s office for our elderly loved ones is often a giant pain. There is a seemingly never-ending stream of paperwork to fill out, and you are never quite sure what you are actually signing. If this sounds like you, we can help out.
It is important for you to focus on your aging loved one if you are their caregiver. This is not always easy when it is something difficult such as deciding between home care or assisted living, or what to do about the growing pile of medical bills. The Aging Life Network is here to help. Our team of senior care professionals is very familiar with medical forms and insurance agencies, and we can help guide you down the road of understanding the paperwork that you see with every visit.
Attempting to learn everything you can on your own, can be a daunting task. Trying to get everywhere in Ft. Lauderdale for errands, doctor’s appointments, and hospital visits can eventually take its toll on your body. Dedicating your time is part of the job of being an elderly caregiver, but there should be a better way for you to find the information you need quickly, and all in one spot.
Nancy Oriola, LCSW, CMC, NMG, CFP, made it her mission, and eventually succeeded, in making this dream into a reality. She recognized that there was no one place with consolidated information on any topic that a caregiver may need additional information on. As a result, the Aging Life Network was born.
When we developed our website, we decided that the information should be easy to find and easy to understand. A wide variety of subjects are covered, and in a multitude of ways. From step-by-step how-to videos, to interesting webinars, to interviews with aging care experts via a podcast, you can take information from the blogs, articles and other forms of media from your very first visit.
We understand that when someone in your family needs additional help, it is hard to do, and we all could use a little help along the way. Our team of senior care experts in Ft. Lauderdale will always treat you with respect, and actually listen to what you have to say. They will have empathy for your situation and provide you with the knowledge they have accumulated through many years of experience. If you are someone that would rather not receive your info from a website, you can speak to one of these professionals in real time, in person, over the phone.
What to Prepare for as an Elderly Caregiver?
Detailed Record Keeping
You will want to keep detailed records in either a notebook, or as a digital file, and store it in a location that is accessible for other family members and caregivers. This way they can add their own observations to the list. Keeping detailed notes has many advantages, including being prepared to answer any questions that the doctor may ask, and being able to see day-to-day changes in your elderly loved one. Trying to remember this information on your own can prove to be difficult, especially with everything else you have going on. You can keep track of medications, their diet, or your own questions that you would like to ask the doctor. Either way, everything will be easy to find in one spot.
Be Honest with Yourself
Clearly, your parents did a wonderful job of raising you, and now they need help of their own. You of course are eager to give it to them, even if you do not really have the time to do it. However, difficult decisions need to be made. For example, trying to convince your parents that the best place for them is in a Ft. Lauderdale assisted living home, especially when they are resistant to the idea. You will have to remain realistic about your situation, so you can best serve your aging loved one’s needs.
If needed, we can help point you in the right direction to the perfect assisted living home, or a senior caregiver, that will not only meet their needs but is affordable as well. When you have to make that difficult choice, you need to have a voice of reason that can set emotional attachments aside. We can be that voice for you.
